There are four races in Blade & soul, some of them having a female and male variant. These four races are the Gon considered deliberate, the Lyn known for their mischievous disposition, the Yun and their elegance and the industrious Jin.

According to Gon legends, the forbearers of this race were born from the breath of Dragons. The members of this race focus on their physical abilities and hone their muscles as others hone their blades. In contrast with their physical appearance, Gon are generally calm folk with an infamously short temper. The classes available to this race are Destroyer, Kung Fu Master, Force Master, Soul Fighter and Warden.

The Lyn race are descendants of the legendary animal named Kirin, whom they share their mischievous and unpredictable character with. Their heightened senses allow them to have a unique understanding of their environment, they can also use familiars and channel the power of the earth. The classes available to the Lyn are Summoner, Force Master, Blade Dancer, Warlock, Gunslinger, Warden and Astromancer.

The Yun are exclusively a female race with extremely close ties to the natural world. Their race originates from the mythical bird called Funghuang, known for its elegance and grace. The Yun are excellent artisans and are famous for the quality of the items they craft. They are also fearsome combatants with graceful techniques. The classes available to them are Force Master, Blade Master, Kung Fu Master, Soul Fighter, Gunslinger, Zen Archer.

The last race in the game is the Jin, which means Unyielding Effort, a name that suits the personality of the members of this race. They are descendants of the Black Tortoise and are the most versatile race in the game. They make fearsome warriors, and have a strong sense of justice and selflessness. The classes available to them are Assassin, Blade Master, Kung Fu Master, Warlock, Soul Fighter, Gunslinger, Warden, Zen Archer.

The two factions that you can join in the game are the Cerulean Order and the Crimson Legion. Both share the same goal of defeating evil, however, while the Cerulean order have a traditionalist approach, the Crimson Legion is driven by liberty and passion.
